Knoll Goes Full Circle With ANEW
11.27.11 | Earlier this year Knoll launched Full Circle, a resource recovery program developed with the non-profit organization, ANEW, founded by Rose Tourje and directed by Lila Grant. The program is dedicated to extending the life cycle of surplus furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), architectural materials and building assets in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible way. Full Circle is also the first program of its kind to include the option to convert Energy-from-Waste (EfW).

BIFMA level Gains Momentum
7.17.11 | BIFMA level is the best, most transparent and comprehensive sustainability standard I’ve seen. Recently, Tom Reardon reported at the BIFMA Annual Meeting during NeoCon WTF 2011 that another major milestone was reached in November 2010 when ANSI adopted level, which is now formally known as ANSI/BIFMA e3-2010 Furniture Sustainability Standard.

Artek’s Design Legacy
3.21.11 | Artek, the Finnish furniture company founded in 1935 by Alvar and Aino Aalto, recently celebrated its 75th anniversary by entering the American market. “Alvar Aalto’s aim and the philosophy of Artek was to design, manufacture and sell contemporary furniture and make it available to everybody,” said Simone Vingerhoets, Executive Vice President of Artek in the US.

Spreading the DIRTT
3.21.11 | DIRTT Environmental Solutions Ltd. announced the completion of a partnership and financing for $22 million led by Expansion Capital Partners. Proceeds from the financing will be used to establish DIRTT’s new manufacturing facility for modular wall’s in Phoenix, AZ. DIRTT is also opening Green Learning Centers in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
