9.28.09 | I joined a group of 500 who were invited to Grand Rapids for a Steelcase symposium in celebration of the centennial of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Meyer May house in the Heritage Hill section of Grand Rapids. This symposium was but part of a full day’s activities, making the trip another example of Steelcase’s very effective focus on the experience, another indication that the world’s largest contract furniture company is moving in the right direction with a holistic approach to its business, as is Haworth and other companies in the industry.

9.21.09 | When I meet my best friend Sunday nights at Starbucks for the much needed weekly debriefing, we are often forced to move a chair, slide a couch, or squeeze between tables to find a spot to chat. Between the students bent over laptops (not sure if they are facebooking or actually studying), and a variety of individuals and small groups pouring over notebooks and folders, it seems our hangout is used as much for business as it is for social purposes.
